SilzerLaw Chartered started small and has
continuously grown as a result of providing
excellent client service and quality representation
at fair and reasonable fees. Our marketing was
carried out by satisfied and happy clients who
referred their friends, family and colleagues. The
firm distinguished itself first locally and then
nationally, by its skill, broad legal experience,
professionalism and caring attention to each
client’s case.
The firm began as the Law Offices of Scot A.
Silzer in 1996. Immediately prior to starting a
private law practice in Florida, Mr. Silzer worked
for years as Counsel to universities and colleges
both in house and as part of the State University
System of Florida. He had a strong interest and
background in academic, legal and employment issues
as well as with the special concerns of
international faculty, scholars and students. The
firm initially focused directly on representation of
universities in hiring and retaining international
employees. From advising human resource personnel,
insuring compliance with employment laws, admitting
and counseling international students, the firm
actively worked with universities in the local
Central Florida area.
As word of the firm’s abilities and skills
spread, the firm took on representation of
universities and students throughout the United
States. The firm quickly obtained a national
reputation for providing excellent counsel in such
areas as guiding departments through the complex
issues of PERM applications for international staff
and planning to ensure that faculty could maintain
employment eligibility and obtain residency.
Likewise, the firm established an outstanding track
record of obtaining permanent residency for
scholars, scientists and researchers in the
Outstanding Ability and Extraordinary Ability
categories.
SilzerLaw attorneys are invited to present
workshops to international student groups throughout
the United States. As these students graduated and
obtained employment, many retained SilzerLaw to
represent them in obtaining work authorization on
H-1B visas and subsequent permanent residency. From
there the word spread to their colleagues and the
companies that employed them. SilzerLaw then became
immigration counsel for hospitals, businesses, and
IT industries seeking to hire international
employees.
Over the years, the firm has developed a strong
team of professionals from all over the world who
work together as a team to provide excellent and
caring service to our clients. Our team is
ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse but
each member embodies the same commitment to service,
integrity and professionalism. The multicultural
environment of our firm makes us especially
cognizant of the unique needs and perspectives of
our clients. We understand the frustrations of the
immigrant experience firsthand. Furthermore, because
we are so diverse, we respect and appreciate
differing perspectives and backgrounds. The firm is
tangible evidence of our core belief that diversity
will be the strength of America in a changing world.
Since its inception, SilzerLaw has been active in
the local community as well as an active supporter
of immigrant causes. We believe that cultural
diversity is life enriching and we commit financial
support and volunteer services to civic and
community projects that support this ideal. We play
an active role in supporting the arts both locally
and around the world and have worked with hundreds
of performers and artists in many genres. We support
causes that work against domestic violence and
racial / ethnic / orientation discrimination. We
take on numerous pro bono cases each year to help
those who cannot afford legal services. Members of
the firm actively participate in ethnic chambers of
commerce, bar associations and other organizations
and SilzerLaw sponsors and participates in numerous
events, festivals, workshops and events for these
organizations each year.
SilzerLaw clients develop a special relationship
with the firm that lasts longer than a single case.
When we take on a new client, we expect that
connection to be lifelong. We take extra care to
make sure we provide all the support they need to
achieve not only their short term objectives but
their long term goals. We have represented
individuals all the way from arrival in the United
States as international students, to obtaining an
H-1B for work, successfully obtaining labor
certification, adjusting to permanent residency,
obtaining US citizenship, and then petitioning for
relatives abroad.
As the firm has grown, clients have repeatedly
asked us to continue to advise them and provide
legal representation in their personal and business
matters after their immigration cases are completed.
As a result, in 2011, the firm has expanded the
practice to afford our clients a broader range of
legal services.
